Volunteer in Language Services (English) PUU-J
Responsibilities
Teach different classes about 8 hours/day, with breaks, Monday to Friday, with possible related activities on Sunday. Volunteers must be able to work with children, adolescents, young people or adults. It is requested that the volunteer participate in the local church activities and help in the English Sabbath School Class every Sabbath. It is possible that the volunteer will be requested to assist in the secretariat area when needed, especially in registration time or at the end of the studying cycle.
Qualifications
- Languages: English (Fluent) Required; Spanish (Poor) Optional
- Major in: Education, Communication or English preferred, but other professions are accepted.
- Important: It's preferred that the volunteer has a college degree or is working towards completing one. He or she must know the basics of teaching the English Language to foreigners. Experience teaching children or music is a plus.
- Minimum Education Preferred: Bachelors
Attire
Acceptable Dress: Professional or social style to work, for both gender: Male- Suit/ social pants/ dress shirt/ Female- women's suit/ dress/ skirt/dress shirt/ blouse/ Casual and sport outside of work ours
Unacceptable Dress: Jewelry, piercings, tattoos, colored and/or extreme hairstyles, colored painted nails. The volunteer is asked to use common sense when dressing.
Accommodations
A shared room/department/house with other volunteers/teachers with basic furniture will be provided. Electricity in Peru is 220 volts. Money for cooking his/her own food will be provided or arrangements can be made with a local restaurant/cafeteria to get all the meals.
Living There
Peru is a wonderful country, full of history, culture and amazing flavors. Peruvians are very friendly with foreigners.

- International plane ticket. The volunteer must arrive at the Lima International Airport, he/she will be transferred to his/her place of service by the calling institution.

Additional
For volunteers of countries that official documents are given in other language than Spanish: The volunteer will apply for a volunteer visa once he/she is in Peru. The volunteer needs to bring his/her police record and birth certificate translated to Spanish and both apostilled. Also needs a passport with validity at least of one year after the end of the service period. The local fees for obtaining the visa will be covered by the calling institution but the volunteer must bring all his/her documents. If don't, he or she will be deported or have immigration fees/fines to pay.
Para voluntarios cuyos países hablan y entregan documentos en español: El voluntario solicitará una visa de voluntario una vez que se encuentre en Perú. El voluntario deberá traer su certificado de antecedentes policiales y su partida de nacimiento, ambos documentos con la apostilla de la Haya. También se necesita un pasaporte con una validez mínima de un año después de finalizar el período de servicio. Los costos para obtener la visa serán cubiertos por la institución que llama pero el voluntario deberá traer todos sus documentos. Si no lo hace, será deportado o tendrá que pagar tarifas o multas de inmigración.
