ESL Teacher
Responsibilities
- Teach and inspire students with a love of God and learning
- Ensure students are settled in well to their first year of schooling
- Develop and challenge all students so that each student can achieve their best in their respective level
- Be accountable for the attainment, progress and outcome of pupils you teach and monitor every student’s progress against the English Learning goals, whilst following the curriculum requirements
- Willingness and desire to contribute to all aspects of school life
- Facilitate a conducive and friendly classroom learning atmosphere at all times

- Have a clear understanding of the needs of all students, including those with special education needs; gifted and talented; and/or disabilities; and be able to use and evaluate distinctive teaching approaches to engage and support them all
- To exhaust all efforts to maintain and represent a healthy and positive image of the SDA church to fellow office staff, parents and the community
- Maintain prompt delivery of class lessons, prompt administration of student evaluation and student progress reports
- Maintain accurate records/files and ensuring confidentiality of student records
- To understand the needs, challenges and opportunities of an international school community
- Make accurate and productive use of assessments to secure students progress and ensure every pupil makes good progress from their respective baseline.
- To support, perform, and complete all other activities assigned by the Ubon Center of Influence Director or her designee, as may be necessary
Behaviour and Safety to:
- Establish a safe, purposeful and stimulating environment for students, rooted in mutual respect, and to establish a framework for discipline with a range of strategies, using praise, sanctions and rewards consistently and fairly
- Maintain a good relationship with students, exercise appropriate authority, and act decisively when necessary
- Be a positive role model and demonstrate consistently the positive behaviour, attitude and values which are expected of students
- Manage the class effectively, using approaches which are appropriate to students’ needs in order to inspire, motivate and challenge
- Have high expectations of behaviour, promoting self-control and independence of all learners
Qualifications
- A committed SDA church member in good standing
- English native speaker
- Completed a 4-year degree, preferably in Education with a major in English
- Language or TESOL
Attire
Casual formal - No shorts, no tank tops, no sleeveless blouse/shirt and no flip flops.
Accommodations
Fully set up housing facility at 5,000Baht monthly rental fee
The housing facility is located right in the Ubon Urban Center of Influence compound.
Living There
Ubon is located at the northeastern part of Thailand. The weather is generally dry for the whole year.
Abundant tropical fruits and also vegetables for the whole year. Thai food is usually spicy.
Thais are warm and friendly.

This AVS position is exclusively for Adventists from Australia ONLY.
Volunteers are required to attend the AVS orientation in Thailand. Date and venue to be announced later.
