Advanced School of Missions Assistant
Responsibilities
1. Program Support:
a. Contribute to the implementation and management of the ASM program by following established plans and guidelines.
b. Monitor and track program progress, identifying areas for improvement and offering suggestions to enhance program effectiveness.
2. Selection Process Assistance:
a. Facilitate the selection process by reviewing procedures alongside the coordinator to ensure compliance and maintain clear communication between candidates and relevant parties.
b. Prepare and organize selection materials and documentation to streamline the evaluation process.
3. Logistics and Organization:
a. Coordinate the group’s arrival logistics, including arranging airport pickups and university reception.
b. Coordinate class schedules in collaboration with the coordinator and professors. Oversee classroom arrangements and handle field and mission trip logistics, including budgeting and transportation.
4. Support and Well-being:
a. Assure that participants are provided spiritual and emotional support during their stay.
b. Develop and implement social programs to foster group cohesion and well-being.
5. Academic and Practical Supervision:
a. Ensure adherence to the curriculum and monitor academic performance processes.
b. Organize and oversee practical activities, including adjusting work schedules and areas as needed.
6. Partnerships and Communication:
a. Nurture partnerships with the coordinator to build and maintain relationships with Unions, Fields, and projects for effective collaboration.
b. Maintain communication with the MEU and MENA AVS coordinators and project directors to facilitate volunteer placements for graduates.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements:
- Strong Computer literacy.
- Good communication skills in both oral and written English. Additional languages are a plus.
- Previous cross-cultural service experience.
- Positive attitude and ability to plan and adapt to change.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Experience in program management.
- Ability to provide spiritual and emotional support.
- Practice in logistics and budget management.
- Time management and problem-solving skills.
- Proactively manage various aspects of the ASM program, ensuring its success and the well-being of students.
Qualifications:
- Hold a college degree or technical course after High School.
- Have completed basic training at a mission school.
- Active membership, involvement, and good standing in the Seventh-day Adventist Church

Accommodations
It will be arranged by the institution. It may be a dormitory room (possibly shared with another AVS volunteer) or may be an apartment shared with other AVS volunteers.
Living There
Lebanon is a beautiful country on the Mediterranean Sea. It is known in the Middle East for its natural beauty and mountains. It is often highlighted that you can snow ski and swim in the Mediterranean on the same day during some seasons. There are three main languages in Lebanon: Arabic, English & French. There is also a range of religious faiths, including Shia and Sunni Muslims, Orthodox Christians, Maronite Christians, Druze, and a small population of Protestants. Middle East University is the only Protestant university in Lebanon and the only Adventist university in the MENA Union, serving 20 countries. We have a very multicultural staff and student body.
