English Teacher

Responsibilities
- Teach English as a Second Language (mainly to adults), in accordance with the lesson plans and materials provided by the language center, and under the overall guidance of the language coordinator;
- Assess, record and report student attendance, progress and learning according to the methods established by the language center;
- Collaborate in the improvement of courses, materials, methods of teaching and assessment;
- Participate in staff worship and meetings;
- Participate in planned outreach initiatives, including small group meetings and socialization in and outside of class;
- Actively seek to share God’s love though Christ’s method of mingling, caring and sharing.
Qualifications
- Dedicated Seventh-day Adventist Christian, with high standards, that has a heart for serving God;
- Willingness to adapt to the local culture in terms of acceptable and unacceptable behavior (such as dress, interactions with the opposite sex, subjects of conversation, etc.);
- Willingness to dedicate themselves exclusively to the language center, not accepting unauthorized side jobs;
- Native English speaker
- Having a love for teaching (previous teaching experience is preferred);
- TESOL or TEFL certification is a plus;
- Having classroom management skills;
- Proficiency in the use of technology and computer programs as required;
- Having a positive, friendly and engaging personality;
- Demonstrating professionalism by being punctual, well organized and responsible;
- Ability to live with others;
- Ability to work well with others, communicate well, accept feedback and problem solve as a group.
- Previous cross-cultural training, cross-cultural service experience or travel abroad is a plus.

- Be diligent and careful when using materials provided by the language center, respecting all guidelines regarding their use.

- Modest and culturally sensitive.
- Volunteer manual will be provided which will cover this area.

Shared housing with internet, water, and electricity (private housing is provided for married couples).

Compensation
- Stipend – 6000 Egyptian pounds per month
- Visa extension fees after arrival
Additional
- All costs for personal trips are personal.
- You must bring 25 USD to purchase the Tourist Visa Stamp at the airport upon arrival. Please note that the language center will pay for your visa extension/residence fees after your arrival. However, if you choose to leave the country for personal reasons (such as to visit family or to tour another country) the re-entry visa fee of 25 USD will be a personal cost.
