Duties:     Purpose: Classroom teacher shall present curriculum in a Christian environment that is in keeping with the Seventh-day Adventist principles. Classroom teacher shall create a loving Christian environment to encourage and help generate a positive, high participation in students’ education process.
Reporting to: School Principal/ School Director
Committee Membership: Faculty Meeting, Level Meeting, Department Meeting, Focus Group, Strategic Planning, and other committees as assigned.
Responsible for: Organizing, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating the total subject area.
A. General Duties
• To be a Christian example of courteousness and to provide a welcoming environment to everyone.
• To be present in school Monday to Friday from 7:30 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. as the standard contract hours, except for any meetings and school events like UAIMS Fair, Graduation and Professional Development.
• To present a professional image to the public as well as to the students. The effective employee dresses appropriately as a professional educator to model success. When on campus, even during non-school hours, modesty should be observed.

UAIMS Dress Code:

For Women: A dress that is to the knee or longer when standing is acceptable. Full length trousers of a non-jeans material combined with a top such as a dress shirt, polo, sweater set is considered acceptable. An informal dress with a modest neckline and shoulders covered is required. Dress shoes must be worn. Tight skinny pants and tight body glove materials are not acceptable. Cosmetics/ make-up should not create an artificial appearance or bring undue attention to the teacher. Hair must be neat, well-groomed, and of natural color and style. Jewelry, except for watches and wedding rings, is not permitted. Tattoos, or body/facial piercing should not be visible on any part of the body while on campus or at school-sponsored activities.

For Men: A combination of a collared shirt such as long sleeve or short sleeve dress shirt is required. Full length dress pants and cotton trousers with a belt and modest shoes with socks is considered acceptable. Tight skinny pants and tight body glove type materials are not acceptable. Hair must be neat, well groomed and of natural color and style. Shoulder length hair is unacceptable. Jewelry, except for watches and wedding rings, is not permitted. Tattoos or body/facial piercing should not be visible on any part of the body while on campus or at school-sponsored activities.

What is unacceptable at UAIMS is:
- Jeans or jean type material, gym clothes, rumpled or ripped clothing, miniskirts, inappropriately revealing attire, anything that is tight, including tight skinny pants and leggings.
- No tennis shoes. No sandals.
- Shorts and tennis shoes are for PE teachers only.

• To participate in the UAIMS improvement and accreditation process.
• To support the English Speaking Program and encourage a school-wide English speaking environment.
• To observe professionalism in the workplace at all times.

B. Curriculum Duties
• To participate with the School Principal, and Grade Level Leader in curriculum matters both in vertical and horizontal alignment and implementation.
• To submit the lesson plan that must be turned in on Friday, the last working day of the week before the lesson plan is implemented the following week.
• To prepare and turn in hard copies of course outline(s) for all subjects to the School Principal by August, and to the students .
• To turn in to the School Principal a folder containing five-day activities for emergency lesson plan.
• To include in the lesson plan the ESLO, the enduring questions, the objectives or benchmarks, learning strategies, engaging activities, integration of Faith and Learning, and type of assessment to be used.
• To compile portfolios of students work along with directions and grading rubrics, quizzes, test papers and projects.
• To mark a summary at the end of the school year, all the skills the students have learned in each course/subject or grade level indicating the skills that have been mastered, need to be mastered or need re-teaching.

C. Classroom Instruction and Learning Duties
• To facilitate active student participation and positive learning environment like interactive learning activities.
• To keep students actively engaged in class at all times.
• To apply a variety of 21stCentury teaching and learning strategies that work: differentiated instruction, ESL strategies for understanding text and those learned during professional development.

D. Management and Supervision Duties
• To take attendance and closely supervise homeroom students at flag lineup.
• To take attendance in all classes, chapel and fieldtrips.
• To manage the classroom appropriately and discipline students when necessary.
• To supervise students both in the classroom, in chapel, in campus, during fieldtrips, and other school-related events.
• To do morning supervision and afterschool supervision when assigned (For non-homeroom teacher).
• To maintain a safe, clean, and orderly classroom environment.

E. Housekeeping Duties
• Turn off lights and air conditioners after the last class period and before leaving the classroom.
• To be the last to leave the classroom to ensure that everything is in order.

F. Professional Development Duties
• To actively participate in professional development and cultivate a culture of sharing with colleagues all strategies of teaching and learning that work.
• To be willing to experiment, modify, innovate new teaching and learning strategies.
• To take responsibility for Thai Teaching License requirement within the first two years for those who are on temporary teaching license; for the SDA teachers and those who have regular Thai Teaching License, take the responsibility needed for renewal which requires a fulfillment of three major areas: presentation of workshop/seminar; a research paper of teaching and learning methods in related subject area; participating in professional development workshops or seminars.
