Duties:     1. Must live on camp premises
2. Perform all tasks to the best of one’s ability and in a timely manner.
3. If there are questions about how to accomplish a given assignment, ask questions.
4. Cuts lawns; trims and edges around walks, flower beds and walls
5. Prunes shrubs and trees to shape and improve growth or remove damaged leaves, branches, or twigs
6. Plants grass, flowers, trees and shrubs
7. Weeds and mulches flowerbeds and around trees; rakes and bags leaves
8. Waters and fertilizes flower beds and trees
9. Cleans grounds and removes paper, trash and other litter
10. Checks on and rotates water sprinklers to be sure lawn is properly watered
11. Makes minor repairs on equipment, sprinklers, etc.
12. Transports trash and waste to disposal area
13. Keeps stock of adequate maintenance supplies and tools
14. Maintains utility shed in an organized manner and good appearance
15. Maintain and clean front road sign
16. Performs other tasks that may include but are not limited to: occasional weekend rotation camp supervision, cleaning
cabins, bathhouse, and kitchen facilities, electrical work of all sorts, changing batteries in such items as smoke
detectors, putting fuel in gas tanks, blowing off the roads and sidewalks, hauling trash to dumpster, helping with pool
maintenance, clean and organize the shop and shop area, replacing window screens, setting out wasp traps, making
repairs to structures (wood working, sheetrock, concrete, windows, roofing, painting, plumbing, electrical, foundations,
etc.)

18. Reports facility and equipment problems to the Manager for direction and procedures as needed

Experience Required:   JOB SPECIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty with judgment, creativity, discretion, and use of intellectual ability. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, ability required, physical, and work environment. Education and/or Experience Prefer some college education/experience but may consider applicant with high school diploma; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Language Skills Must be able to read and comprehend simple instructions in English. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, maintenance instructions and procedure manuals in English. Ability to read labels and understand written instructions of use of equipment, cleaning packages or gardening products in English. Mathematical Skills Knowledge of basic math skills. Reasoning Ability Knowledgeable of operating grounds/landscaping equipment such as mowers, trimmers, etc. Ability to effectively present information to other employees and to suppliers and service personnel. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Physical Demands Have ability to stand and/or walk for several hours at a time. Must be able to spend long periods of time standing, walking, reading, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing and crawling. The employee must able to lift and/or move 50 pounds. Assistance should be requested when lifting requirements exceed 50 pounds. Must be able to reach overhead. Must be able to read, speak, hear (in English). Work Environment The employee frequently works with tools and equipment. The noise level can be loud at times. The work environment is both indoors and outdoors.

Additional Information
Camp Waianae is located on the Island of Oahu. It is nestled up against the base of the mountains overlooking the valley. Camp Waianae is only a few minuets drive to the beach. Volunteers are expected to work daily with occasional weekends/days off. A schedule will be set so that the volunteer will be able to enjoy Hawaii while helping to maintain the camp.
