Duties:     1. Primary role is to teach ESL/Bible classes up to 30 hours per week for young learners, youth, and adults.
-- Students' ages range from 4-6 years/7-12 years/13-16 years/17 years and up
2. Participate and assist in the planning of extra curricular/outreach activities for the language school
3. Actively try to form redemptive relationships with our students and parents both on and off campus.
--Regularly communicate with the director to ensure that you maintain appropriate, safe, and redemptive relationship with students and parents.
4. Other responsibilities as assigned
a. Attend and actively participate in weekly staff meetings, weekday staff worships, Thai classes, and training programs as assigned by the director
b. Prepare lesson plans for the coming week for each class and submit them to the supervisor
c. Evaluate student progress using written and oral tests and create grade reports for each student at the end of each term
d. Keep attendance records for each class and return these records to the registrar every month.
e. Create teaching materials and decorate the classroom attractively each term.
f. Provide effective discipline and supervision for students at all times, including during the ten minutes before each class unless you are already teaching another class at that time.
5. Regularly attend and actively participate in vespers, Sabbath School, and Divine Service. Assist with the various programs of the local church according to your talents and abilities as needed.

Acceptable Dress: Semi-formal. For men: Button-down or business casual polo shirts. Dress shirts (necktie optional). Khaki or other business casual slacks, dress pants. For women: Dresses and skirts below the knees. Dress slacks or business casual pants. Blouses and tops with sleeves.
Unacceptable Dress:  It is unacceptable to wear shorts or sleeveless shirts on the compound during business hours (open hours at the school), unless the supervisor makes an exception for sports activities outside the classroom. Any clothing with words and messages that are not consistent with the beliefs and values of the SDA church are also inappropriate. Jewelry should not be worn, on or off campus. For women, no mini-skirts, revealing or sleeveless dresses or blouses. Long hair is culturally inappropriate for male teachers. Discuss any questions with the supervisor about the dress policy and what is acceptable in Thai culture.

Additional terms/benefits or comments: We will not accept any candidate for any period less than 10 months. The Southern-Asia Pacific Division requires attendance at the AVS orientation in Thailand Mission, 12 Soi Pridi Panomyong 37, Sukhumvit 71 Klongtan Nua, Wattana, Bangkok 10110 Thailand. Many important topics will be discussed which are required prior to beginning service and a Missionary Handbook will be given to each volunteer. This handbook gives helpful insights to foreigners and describes many of the important rules and requirements for mission service. All AVS workers will be obligated to adhere to the requirements therein.(Note that the day for ALL volunteers to arrive is on Wednesday, July 17 and leave July 23, Tuesday. Visa/Travel Details: Approved applicants can apply for a non-immigrant O or Non-Immigrant RA single or multiple entries for one year if the Thai Embassy will grant it. If not, volunteers can apply for a tourist visa (3 months) and the one year missionary visa will be worked out/applied after arrival in Thailand. Please be advised that it takes 8-10 weeks to obtain a Non-immigrant RA (missionary visa) for Thailand. Volunteers wishing tp apply for a long term service in Thailand should be aware of and should allow for the time necessary to complete this process. However, if the call is urgent, volunteers can always come with a 3-month Non-Immigrant O visa and the missionary visa will be worked out upon arrival. Thailand Adventist Mission will issue an invitation letter and Thai documents to secure a Non-Immigrant O visa good fro 3 months from the Thai Embassy where the volunteer will apply. Copy of volunteer passport should be sent to Thailand Mission to be used in preparing the invitation letter to come to Thailand.
