Duties:     Primary Objectives:
1. To assist in the day to day operation of the Girls’ Dormitory in the setting of the overall Boarding programme and to provide an excellent environment for staff and students.
2. To support the special character (SDA Christian) of Longburn Adventist College, policies of both Board of Trustees and Board of Governors and other related school documents.
3. Plan, support and help run the devotional program provided for boarding students.
4. To be available to provide pastoral support for boarding students.
5. To loyally support the school and its management at all times.
6. To actively implement the Mission Statement of the College, “In Christ we Educate, Encourage and Empower”.

Summary of Pastoral Care Assistant Role:
Assist with supervision of 11-18-year-old girls in a hostel environment. This supervision involves helping with daily dorm routines which are rostered with the other pastoral care staff, keeping a record of activities (dorm log book), mark attendance and keep track of campus leave (using the Boardingware iPhone/iPad system).

Below are listed an example of the duties required for each routine:
a) Morning routine: wake-up, morning breakfast prep, daily check of room tidiness and prep for school and brief morning worship, then being on call for errands through the day.
b) Afternoon/Evening routine: Greet the boarders on their return from school, organise sports teams and fitness, for evening meal check for absentees and follow up, be prepared to take rostered evening worships, supervision of evening study, preparation for bedtime and final room check.

Other duties include:
1. Setting up and helping implement cleaning rosters within the dormitories.
2. Attend Staff debrief and weekend planning meetings.
3. One whole day weekend supervision on a rotation basis.
4. When on rostered duty, help organise and run weekend activities.

Acceptable Dress: Uniformed when on duty (staff polo shirt and jacket provided). Keep in mind that you will be role modelling and seen as leader to the girls' dorm. Modest, clean, professional and generally appropriate for task at hand.

Lodging:   Self-contained, furnished two bedroom unit within the girl's dormitory. Bedding and linen provided as well as kitchen utensils and crockery. All meals can be eaten with the boarders at the school cafeteria during term time.

State what other interests/hobbies you are willing to offer and share to the dorms. 5. Have at least two years driving license (manual preferred).

Additional terms/benefits or comments: This is a volunteer position that comes with accommodation (inc. utilities & internet use), access to school vehicles (75km/week personal allowance), health insurance (arranged through the Adventist Volunteer Service) and a stipend that is paid in two tiers:
Tier 1: When you are in active employment (as per the duty roster) while students are in attendance, the stipend will be $120.00 per week.
Tier 2: When you are in active employment (40 hour week) while students are not in attendance, the stipend will be $200.00 per week.
Volunteer deans are required to be available when students are at school. Additional weeks, when students are not in attendance, are to be negotiated with the Boarding Director. The additional $80.00 under Tier 2 is to allow for the increased cost of food at times when the College cafeteria is not operating. Volunteer deans will not receive a stipend if they are not working.
