Duties: |
Will be involved in all aspects of teaching these classes. Includes lesson planning, grading, classroom management, counseling, instruction, supervision and extra curricular activities.
Will also perform chaplaincy duties as needed and scheduled, including planning and implementing spiritual growth activities throughout the school year, providing spiritual counseling to staff and students as needed, organizing and carrying out at least biannual weeks of prayer and at least quarterly special worship services (e.g., Friday evenings) at the school. Will work with the administration and school board regarding the scheduling of spiritual events and your role at the school.
a. To teach the above mentioned class and to undertake such extra-curricular activities and supervisory duties as administration may assign.
b. By precept and example seek to uphold Christ as Friend and Lord and endeavor to lead students to a similar understanding.
c. Maintain careful records of attendance and scholastic performance in the student information system or register and grade book for that purpose; make course outlines and lesson plans as prescribed by the administration.
d. Maintain proper control of the students’ behavior in the classroom, school grounds and premises in accordance with the rules and regulations stipulated in the Handbook.
e. Maintain neatness and cleanliness in the classroom and school grounds; create visual aids, posters and displays in bulletin boards, thus supporting a positive learning environment; be responsible for janitorial work in and around classroom and undertake supervisory duties at lunch hour, and at other times in rotation with other teachers.
f. Attend regular staff meetings as scheduled and other required meetings and events even after school; join in‐service sessions and workshops in order to maintain or increase his/her level of teaching skills.
g. Undertake any other duties and responsibilities considered as part of the normal load; work in harmony with school programs and activities outlined in the Staff Handbook/Bulletin, and other directives set forth by the Board and administration.
h. Regularly attend weekend services and assist in church programs according to talents and abilities. (Sabbath School classes for all ages that need leaders and assistants, Pathfinder club, youth meetings during the week, door-to-door and prison ministries.) The ministries that can be joined in are extensive and many more could be led by you! |

Acceptable Dress: |
Men teach in long pants (no jeans) but may wear shorts off campus or after school. Men must wear collared shirts to church meetings. Women must always wear loose fitting skirts and dresses past the knee when going off campus or "in public" on campus. Women may wear modest shorts, slacks or pants only on campus in the evening or when exercising. |

Chuuk State in the country of the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) consists of many beautiful tropical island atolls. Our Chuuk SDA School is located close to the capital city of Weno on the island of Moen in a small fenced compound that also includes the Weno Seventh-day Adventist Church and the school's volunteer staff housing. This PreK-12 school usually has 150-180 students taught by AVS missionaries and local teachers. Chuuk SDA School belongs to the Guam-Micronesia Mission, is part of the North American Division (NAD) and follows NAD curriculum.
Important Orientation Information: Plan to arrive at Honolulu International Airport, Hawaii, on Wednesday, July 31, 2019, for Secondary Encounter Bible curriculum training on Thursday and Friday, August 1 and 2. General Orientation meetings begin at 6:15 p.m. on the evening of Friday, August 2. Departure to your island school will be on Wednesday, August 7, 2019, on flight UA154, arriving on Thursday, August 8, 2019.
