Duties: |
Volunteer Duties:
1. Primary role is to teach ESL/Bible classes up to 30 hours per week for young learners, youth, and adults
a. Student age ranges: 4-6 years / 7-12 years / 13-16 years / 17 years and up
2. Participate and assist in the planning of extracurricular/outreach activities for the language school
3. Actively try to form redemptive relationships with our students and parents both on and off campus
a. Regularly communicate with the Director to ensure that you maintain appropriate, safe, and redemptive relationships with students and parents
4. Other responsibilities
a. Attend and actively participate in weekly staff meetings, staff worship, Thai classes, and training programs as assigned by the Director
b. Prepare lesson plans for each class
c. Evaluate student progress using written and oral tests and create grade reports for each student at the end of each term
d. Keep attendance records for each class and return those records to the registrar every week
e. Provide effective discipline and supervision for students at all times
5. Regularly attend and actively participate in vespers, Sabbath School, and Divine Service. Assist with the various programs of the local church according to your talents and abilities as needed. |

Acceptable Dress: |
Semi-formal. For men: Button-down or business casual polo shirts. Dress shirts (necktie optional). Khaki or other business casual slacks. Dress slacks. For women: Dresses and skirts below the knees. Dress slacks or business casual pants. Blouses and tops with sleeves |
Unacceptable Dress: |
While teaching or while at the school during business hours, it is unacceptable to wear shorts or sleeveless shirts, especially tank tops. For women: no mini-skirts, revealing or sleeveless blouses. At times, it might be acceptable to wear shorts and other athletic clothing for sports or physical education activities outside the classroom. Any clothing with words and messages that are not consistent with the beliefs and values of the SDA Church are also inappropriate. Jewelry should not be worn on or off campus. Long hair is culturally inappropriate for male teachers. Candidates can talk with the supervisor if they have any questions about the dress policy for the school and what is acceptable in Thai culture. |

Visa/Travel Details: |
Approved candidates can apply for a non-immigrant O or non-immigrant R single or multiple entries visa for one year if the Thai Embassy will grant it. If not, volunteers can apply for a tourist visa (3 months) and the one year missionary visa will be worked out/applied for after arrival in Thailand. Volunteers wishing to apply for long-term service in Thailand should be aware of and should allow for the time necessary to complete this process. However, if the call is urgent, volunteers can always come with a 3-month Non-Immigrant-O visa and the missionary visa will be worked out upon arrival. Thailand Adventist Mission will issue an invitation letter and Thai Documents to secure a Non-Immigrant-O visa good for 3 months from the Thai Embassy where the volunteer will apply. Copy of volunteer passport should be sent to Thailand Mission to be used in preparing the invitation letter to come to Thailand. |
