Duties:     Duties include but are not limited to:
- be an example of Jesus' love and teachings to others through your personal life, dress, and relationships;
- daily management of the elementary school;
- hiring, supervision, mentoring, and evaluation of school staff (including 24-hour supervision of volunteer staff);
- responsibility and management of academic affairs;
- maintain (or oversee the maintenance of) careful records of enrollment, scholastic performance, financial statements and budgets, calendars, board meeting minutes, and others as needed.
- management of school/student issues on campus, etc. all in cooperation with the local school board;
- prepare and chair regularly scheduled staff meetings;
- make (or oversee) annual revisions to the student and staff handbooks/bulletins;
- oversight of all grounds and maintenance needs;
- oversight of long-range plan to include new school property & facilities, and receiving accreditation from the government;
- oversight of overall education vision for the Timor-Leste Mission in all the districts;
- regularly attend church services and events and assist your staff as needed in their ministries in church programs according to talents and abilities.

Principal will also be involved in all aspects of teaching any assigned classes, as needed. This includes lesson planning, grading, classroom management, counseling, instruction, supervision, extra curricular activities, and any other duties as assigned.

MEN: Work—collared shirt, long professional pants (NO JEANS); Church—dress pants, collared dress shirt. Recreation—modest shorts/T-shirts, modest swimwear.
Unacceptable Dress:  Tight and/or short shorts, clothing with low cleavages, short/sheer blouses or dresses, T-shirts with negative slogans/logos, bikinis or revealing swimwear. Jewelry, dreadlocks, piercings, visible tattoos, extreme haircuts/styles. Please do not bring jewelry.

Every volunteer will be given a copy of the Southern-Asia Pacific Division AVS Handbook at orientation and/or during the first week of service. All volunteers agree to read and be bound by these policies.

Visa/Travel Details: Be prepared to pay for travel expenses from home to Timor-Leste. Original criminal record check and health clearance letter MUST be acquired shortly before departure in home country. Volunteers may be required to have a physical exam to receive their work visa in country—this includes blood test (including STDs and HIV) and chest x-ray. To acquire a work visa, you will also need to bring all original diplomas and certificates you have, as well as, an authenticated/notorized copy of your passport.

The Southern-Asia Pacific Division requires attendance at the AVS orientation at the Thailand Mission, 12 Soi Pridi Panomyong 37, Sukhumvit 71 Klongtan Nua, Wattana, Bangkok 10110 Thailand (July 18-23, 2018). School preparation begins August 6, 2018 in Dili, Timor-Leste.
