Duties:     Duties include but are not limited to assisting/supporting the principal in: daily management of this K-12 Adventist school; hiring, supervision, and evaluation of school staff (including 24-hour supervision and care of volunteer staff); responsibility for all academic affairs, management of school/student issues on campus, oversight of all grounds and maintenance needs, regular communication with the GMM Education department including the submission of requested documents and information, participation at all duly-called principals' meetings, etc. all in cooperation with the local school board. This person will also be involved with religious activities on campus and in their local church.
The vice-principal will:
a. By precept and example seek to uphold Christ as Friend and Lord and endeavor to lead students and staff to a similar understanding.
b. Assist to maintain (or oversee the maintenance of) and submit as requested careful records of enrollment, scholastic performance, financial statements and budgets, calendars, board meeting minutes, and others as needed.
c. Assist to prepare and vice-chair regularly scheduled staff meetings.
d. Assist to create (or oversee the creation of) and make annual revisions to the student and staff handbooks/bulletins.
e. Regularly attend church services and events and assist your staff as needed in their ministries in church programs (Sabbath School classes, Pathfinder club, youth meetings, door-to-door and prison ministries, etc.) according to talents and abilities.
The vice-principal will also assist in the support of the staff in their duties listed below.
a. To teach the above mentioned class and to undertake such extra-­curricular activities and supervisory duties as administration may assign.
b. By precept and example seek to uphold Christ as Friend and Lord and endeavor to lead students to a similar understanding.
c. Maintain careful records of attendance and scholastic performance in the register and grade book for that purpose; make course outlines and lesson plans as prescribed by the administration.
d. Maintain proper control of the students’ behavior in the classroom, school grounds and premises in accordance with the rules and regulations stipulated in the Handbook.
e. Maintain neatness and cleanliness in the classroom and school grounds; create visual aids, posters and displays in bulletin boards, thus supporting a positive learning environment; be responsible for janitorial work in and around classroom and undertake supervisory duties at lunch hour, and at other times in rotation with other teachers.
f. Attend regular staff meetings as scheduled and other required meetings and events even after school; join in‐service sessions and workshops in order to maintain or increase his/her level of teaching skills.
g. Undertake any other duties and responsibilities considered as part of normal load; work in harmony with school programs and activities outlined in the Staff Handbook/Bulletin, and other directives set forth by the Board and administration.
h. Regularly attend weekend services and assist in church programs according to talents and abilities (Sabbath School classes for all ages that need leaders and assistants, Pathfinder club, youth meetings during the week, door-to-door and prison ministries). The ministries that can be joined in are extensive and many more could be led by you!

Acceptable Dress: Men teach in long pants (no jeans) but may wear shorts off campus or after school. Men must wear collared shirts to church meetings. Women must always wear loose fitting skirts and dresses past the knee when going off campus or "in public" on campus. Women may wear modest shorts, slacks or pants only on campus in the evening or when exercising.
Unacceptable Dress:  Women - Tight and/or short shorts are never acceptable, nor sleeveless or sheer blouses or dresses. A conservative hairstyle is preferred for men and women. Jewelry is not allowed.

Pohnpei State, one of 4 states in the country of the Federated States of Micronesia, consists of several beautiful tropical islands and atolls. Our Pohnpei SDA School is located on the main island, called Pohnpei, where the FSM capital is also located at the village of Palikir. Our campus contains housing for volunteer staff. This K-12 school is a blessing to over 300 students taught by AVS missionaries and local teachers. Important Orientation Information: Plan to meet with other GMM principals at the NAD Education Convention in Chicago, Illinois, August 6-9, 2018. Then plan to transfer with the rest of the team to our student missionary Orientation meetings, arriving at Honolulu International Airport (HNL), Hawaii, on Friday, August 10, 2018, for Orientation meetings which begin at 6:15 p.m. that evening. Departure to your island school will be on Wednesday, August 15, 2018, on flight UA154, arriving on Thursday, August 16, 2018. ***For volunteers from divisions other than NAD, please work with your Division Volunteer Coordinator regarding important ticketing information with MTS Travel.
