Duties:     The volunteer will be assigned to serve in the Tasba Raya Clinic. Teach at the Adventist school and participate in school sports. Teach at the elementary SDA school. Participate in the pathfinder activities. Participate in the youth department in the church. Maintain an attitude of service and cooperation with other programs and individuals. Study the Miskito language on site.

Acceptable Dress: In school functions, clean shirt, pants and comfortable shoes. For church and school functions dress pants for men, regular Sabbath dress for women.
Unacceptable Dress:  No tank tops, or low cuts. No shorts, tight skirts or tight pants or short dress/skirts. No jewelry.

Lodging:   The men's dorm provides bunk beds, table and chair. Supplies are purchased in Puerto Cabezas and Waspan for the kitchen and personal needs usually once or twice a month. The computer and email office is available at scheduled times so all have access to it at least once a week.

Experience Required:   At least 1 year of college or equivalent experience. Must enjoy working with children and youth. Will consider tutor position for non college applicant willing to work one on one with students.

Renewal of visas require exiting Nicaragua, traveling to Costa Rica for renewal of visa. Usually a two/three day activity with a cost of approximately $600.

Additional Information
Willingness to learn Miskito language is important. The academic year runs from February through November. It would be helpful for the volunteer to meet these dates but if unable to, we can accommodate other dates.
