So much has happened and I can hardly believe how much I have fit in. It is a great feeling to belong somewhere in a country where you didn't know anyone at all!
The boarding kids at Lilydale Adventist High School are doing really well and have adjusted to me being here. Bruce, the house parent, mentioned to me that the boys were really adjusting well to having me around. It seems it took them a lot longer to adjust with the previous volunteers. That made me feel awesome! I have been so worried that I wouldn't be able to do this and would fail!
Sabbaths are the best part of the week! Since I have been on duty the two previous weekends, this past weekend was nice to have off (Sabbath and Sunday). I went to Lilydale Adventist Church and it was really nice. Everyone was really friendly and welcomed me warmly. They are planning to start up a young adult Sabbath School which I want to go to. It was delightful to walk in and have people come up to me and say hi.
I have been to school chapel twice since my first introduction up front and it has been okay. I have felt a bit like a fish out of water but it is nice to sing and just get out of the dorm. I have started Bible studies, something I never imagined doing before! I conduct two Bible Study groups for year 7 (grade 7) girls. The first one I just sat in and observed but later got a chance to do it first hand. It went okay for the first group, though I really ran out of things to do and say! But the second group! It turns out they were one study ahead of the other group! I had prepared for one and they had already done it! That was a bit scary for a bit. We ended up playing a game and I tried to improvise a bit of a Bible Study into all of it. The girls were great about it and so I didn't end up a complete mess!
I had my first day off and it was awesome to sleep in! I just vegged around and didn't do much, but sleep.
As you can see things have kept be busy but not too busy. I keep thanking God for giving me this chance and the strength to actually do this! Sometimes I wonder how I had the strength, but I didn't . . . God did.
Love and Prayers,
Krissy
