Who ~ What ~ Where ~ When ~ Why


WHAT?

The Adventist Volunteer Service (AVS) plan is designed to assist the Seventh-day Adventist Church in proclaiming the gospel to people everywhere through the ministry of Adventist Volunteers, matching their talents, skills, resources and professional expertise with defined needs.

WHO?

  • Seventh-day Adventists who are at least 18 years of age and no more than 79 years of age,
  • Baptized church members in regular standing for at least one year,
  • Singles,
  • Couples, preferably when both spouses can work. (Married volunteers may not serve without their spouse beyond three months.) Opportunities for families with children are limited.
  • Financially able to serve without expectation of reward or compensation.
  • Do not usually receive employee benefits such as service credit or retirement benefits.
WHEN?
  • Adventist volunteers serve full time
  • Short-term assignments up to two months
  • Long-term assignments up to two years, or more
  • Project groups, usually 2-4 weeks

WHERE?
Everywhere – particularly in Africa, Asia, Caribbean, Latin America, South Pacific.

WHY?
Because the Holy Spirit has called them.
