How to Request a Volunteer
Application Process
- Search Positions to see what is available. Note the accommodations, visa requirements, financial responsibilities and qualifications for each assignment. Once you've found your first choice click "Add to My Interests."
- Create a New Account. Finish selecting THREE positions of interest.
- Begin Online Application and follow instructions.
- Send a Reference Form to THREE individuals (your pastor and two professionals from your school or work) to be submitted to your volunteer coordinator.
- Make an appointment to see your doctor or a medical professional for a signature on the Health Certificate.
- Download the Beneficiary Form, complete and return to your volunteer coordinator.
- Download the Release of Liability, complete and return to your volunteer coordinator.
- Before being assigned to a call you must be screened by your:
- Local mission/conference volunteer coordinator
- Missions office of the Adventist college/university you currently attend
- Division Volunteer Coordinator (click here for division contact)
- Submit a Voice tape (if requested by the service request).
- Orientation is required for all international assignments and can be obtained through:
- group training on an Adventist school campus or through the Institute of World Mission program (by Andrews University)
- or through the short self-study course, Passport to Mission.
- For more information contact your Division Volunteer Coordinator or your campus missions office.
- Begin raising money!
- Be prepared to wait a month or two for the finalization of an assignment - your application papers may need to be submitted to several institutions.
- DO NOT resign from your job until your assignment has been confirmed by your AVS coordinator.
